Jack Moffatt, MBA – Executive Chairman
Mr. Moffatt has an extensive background in packaged goods retailing and manufacturing in both Canada
and the United States, and has held senior management positions in several other industries over the
course of his career. He currently operates an advisory company specializing in corporate revitalization
and strategic planning. Mr. Moffatt is a former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of A&P Canada,
and a former President of First National Supermarkets in New England. He holds an MBA degree from
the University of Toronto. Mr. Moffatt was appointed to the Board of Directors of CV Technologies in
September 2008 and assumed corporate oversight responsibilities in October 2008.
Allan Cleiren, CA – Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Cleiren is a Chartered Accountant with over 18 years of financial management experience in both
private and public companies operating in both Canada and the United States. He has held various
executive positions in the past including that of CFO for a publicly traded company and spent five years
with PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Price Waterhouse) engaged in audit and tax services. He has also
been the Vice President, Finance of a large publicly traded multidivisional company with international
operations, employing over 11,000 people. Mr. Cleiren graduated from the University of Alberta in 1990
with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He is a Chartered Accountant and has an ICD.D designation
through the Institute of Corporate Directors. He joined CVQ on September 1, 2008.
Lei Ling, PhD – Vice President Product Development
Dr. Ling has a Ph.D. in chemistry from Ehime University, Japan. He was one of the group leaders in the
Company’s original science team working with Dr. Shan involved in early stages of COLD-FX
development. He has managed different projects in research and product development as well as
collaborative research. He has expertise in (i) Drug discovery and development, (ii) Identification and
isolation of active ingredients from natural sources and development as natural health products, (iii)
Quality management, and (iv) IP management. Dr. Ling also has expertise and experience in scaling up
lab processes and transfer to production. Dr. Ling joined CVQ in January 2004 and appointed Vice
President of Product Development in July 2005.
Ross Montagano – Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Montagano has a Bachelor of Arts, Economics from Carleton University and has extensive
experience in General Management, Sales, and Marketing. He has been a senior executive with Fortune
500 companies as well as led many entrepreneurial companies in their startup and early development
stages. His leadership experience comes from working in the office equipment, internet, corporate travel,
managed services, and consulting industries. Mr. Montagano was appointed COO of CVQ in May 2007.
G. Warren Michaels – Vice President Communications
Mr. Michaels has worked in the public communications industry since 1966 having worked in radio,
public office, and television. Mr. Michaels was the department head of Broadcast Journalism at the
Fanshawe Community College in London, Ontario from 1971 to 1980. Before joining CVQ,
Mr. Michaels worked at CBC Radio-Television Network where he was a supervising producer for current
affairs programs that offered viewers insight and understanding of trends, social and political issues.
Mr. Michaels joined CVQ in January 2004.
Fred Pittman – Vice President Sales
Fred Pittman has more than 25 years of senior executive experience in sales and marketing in the
consumer packaged goods industry. Mr. Pittman has leadership experience in Canadian and U.S. retail,
wholesale, distribution and broker networks. He has a proven track record of building branded and private
label equity, market share, brand development and shareholder value. Mr. Pittman has been with CVQ
since July 2007.
Jacqueline J. Shan, PhD, DSc – President and Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Shan was awarded a PhD with distinction in Physiology from the University of Alberta and received a
Doctorate of Science in Pharmacology from Peking Union Medical College. In 1992 she co-founded
CV Technologies Inc. (CVQ) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In the early days at CVQ, Dr. Shan
assembled an in-house team of scientists with expertise in pharmacology, neurochemistry, immunology,
process engineering, phytochemistry, analytical chemistry, Western and traditional medicine. She is the
architect of the Company’s core strategy of using clinical trials and science to differentiate itself in the
natural therapeutics industry. Dr. Shan served as CEO of CVQ from October 2003 to September 2008.
Sharla K. Sutherland, PhD – Vice President Scientific & Regulatory Affairs
Dr. Sutherland has a Ph.D. in physiology from the University of Alberta and was one of the original 25
scientists involved in CVQ’s early R&D activities working with Dr. Shan. She has expertise in Canadian
natural health product regulations and clinical and experimental research of natural health products. She
has managed numerous successful contract and collaborative research projects and has extensive
experience in scientific communications, working closely with Marketing and PR management. Dr.
Sutherland has been with the Company since May 2004 and was appointed Vice President Scientific &
Regulatory Affairs in February 2007.
Wallace Yit – Vice President Operations
Mr. Yit has an MBA with a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Wilfred Laurier University,
Waterloo, Ontario. He has worked in senior management positions for Canadian and multi-national
companies in North America and has held positions in Operations, Sales and Marketing and Quality
Management. Mr. Yit has been with the Company since November 2003. |
